Yes, so instead of one herb bed, I have notices that the French scatter their héros around. Re. Tomatoes..I assume Iutdoor ones as these cab be planted next to Cabbages etc when weather warmer and of course insectes and batteries flourishing. Re. Essentiel Oils, I see Juniper (Genevrier) exyracted from the Berries & Stems is used to ward off Cabbage White Caterpillars from laying eggs...Riche in Alpha-Pinene. Dosage:- To make the préparation soluble start with 5ml Rapeseed or Sunflower Oil to 1ltr Rainwater. Mix in 30g Kaolin Powder and shake well, then add 1ml Essential Oil then 1ml Liquid Soap or Vegetable based Washing up Liquid. Spray leaves morning and night. I shall find out more at Biodynamic Lecture on 23rd. But sounds worth a try. This storm us aldo coming our way tomorrow ..Batten down the hatches!!
Hello everybody, I am new here I found this wonderful discussion after searching for information about lunar planting and seem to have fell down the rabbit hole! I am new to living cyclically and wish to apply the practice to gardening, I wonder if anyone could recommend a book in a grow a long style if that is even a thing? I am in North Yorkshire.
Welcome mrsdoherty54887. Firstly I should like to apologise for my French Keyboard that seems to have taken on a life of its own despite my corrections before publishing. Orange coming today to connect Internet plus fixed Phone after 11 weeks!!! Here in France we have many publications re Lunar Gardening because it is so popular. Others in UK may know of books there, but initially I would recommend contacting The Soil Association who may well have articles and suchlike in their library. We give weekly/monthly guides and useful links here as well. Obelixx perhaps you can help? No storm damage here this morning. Hope the rest of you are OK.
Hi Everyone. Welcome to February...Snowdrops are out and some Daffodils are in bud. Always makes me feel the worst of Winter is over when I see the first flowers. The Lunar Weather forecast for February shows 1st -12th very changeable, but primarily wet with snow in northern areas. 13-16th warmer but damp.17-20th Much brighter everywhere but don't get too excited 21-29th Globally colder, wetter and very windy again. Thank goodness it is a short month! On the gardening front with Moon descending until 6th Feb prick out Cabbages that you sowed 16/17th Feb in a Nursery Bed, letting them grow on awhile before moving to final plot. 7/8th Feb Fruit Days with Moon ascending in front of Sagittarius. Sow Tomatoes /🍆 Aubergines/Chillies & Peppers in heated greenhouse or propogator. Cover with glass, turning daily to avoid condensation. 9/10th February Moon ascending in front of Capricorn so Root Days. In a heated greenhouse or propogator sow Celeriac, keeping it damp until sprouted. On the 10th no gardening recommended after 1.45pm as Moon Périgée. (Nearest point to Earth in Monthly Cycle) 11th February One Flower Day in our favour. In covered Nursery Bed sow Brocolli and Under heat sow Cauliflowers. Sow Impatiens and Pétunias. At last looks as though we can get going. Happy Gardening!
Hi @biofreak. I finally got my shallots planted out on Friday but it turned out to be a smaller packet than I remembered so I need to get some more to plant on the 9th or 10th. I have some seed potatoes chitting and I'll use cloches to warm the soil so they can get an early start in the soil.
I've been so busy and the weather so bizarre for January that i haven't even looked at my seed stash to decide what to sow yet.
I hope you and your menagerie are all doing well.

However, I've heard great things about this gardener who transformed an estate in Cornwall from derelict to bountiful using lunar gardening principles - https://www.amazon.co.uk/R-J-Harriss-Moon-Gardening-Moon-managed-Production/dp/0954239407
and https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/27220351-moon-gardening
and https://rowman.com/ISBN/9781538163245/The-Natural-Gardener-A-Guide-to-the-Ancient-Practice-of-Moon-Gardening
There are other titles available in the UK by fifferent authors. Google.
