We had one at the last house, as most of the houses had a private water supply, but yours is a lot nicer @keepfallinoff5MLSWpBd!
Mind how you go though - we don't want you to change your name to keepfallingin  ;)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    Beautifully constructed.
  • we love ours and we use the water to water our garden now.we put a pump on top of the wall we built around it.we checked the water with a test kit and it was clean apart from some slight bacteria that we think might be from the nearby allotments and fields.so we don't drink it!but it's lovely and cold and clear

Oh I say that's an impressive well @keepfallinoff5MLSWpBd are you going to use it for your garden watering?

We had one in our last garden in Derbyshire that I assume was very old. It was working too with one of those pumps with a handle and a hook on the spout to hang a bucket on.

How brilliant. When we moved into our home a very old neighbour told us there was a well in our garden. That was in 1978 and we still haven't found it!
  • @ Fairygirl , I’ll try not to, @bertrand-mabel, keep up the search @Uff, yes I am going to use it to water the garden, I would like to make it a feature, but it’s a bit expensive, I’ll just put a manhole cover on it for now, when I’ve completed my new patio I’ll post an update with some pics.
Apparently we all have one on our road but some people have filled there’s in due to extensions, shame.

Hi @bertrand-mabel   Is there no one who can source the well for you.  A diviner?  They exist here and they walk around the property with their forked branch waiting for it to react.  Worth it, if you can find one!!
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

Or some might already have this sensitivity, I'm told it's surprising how many people unknowingly do.
