Scaffolder wit.

Got a couple of scaffolders setting up on my house this morning. About an hour ago one of them complimented me on my garden and said how much he enjoyed gardening. 5 minutes ago he walked past my Wisteria, which is now in full bloom and asked "Do you get many grapes off it?". Bless him!!!

I asked if they were fixing a leak and got the reply, 'no, were fitting a water meter' then he added 'there will probably be a leak by the time we're finished though'

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
”Sì, sì,” he insisted.
Turns out he had eaten sweet peas. We googled it and it causes muscle weakness (lathyrus is the unsurprising medical term) and, I added for good measure, stupidity.
A classic Nina Simone track - beautiful

I love the borrowed wisdom of builders. After laying a new floor slab a patch in the corner didn’t dry. There must be a pipe leaking under there I said. No, no, its just rain from the mountain. Dug up the corner myself to discover a leaking sewage pipe (lovely). Oh yes, the builder said, thought that might be the problem. A month later, still not dried out. Think we need a dpm under there, I said. No, no, the damp will just go up the walls. A month later, builder said, think we should lay a dmp. Good idea, I said, but what if the damp goes up the walls? Don’t be daft, it won’t do that!
