I am planning on going to Kew this summer, but not next week. I am going to Le Manoir for lunch and a wander around their gardens, next Friday. Fed up with not being able to get into Restaurants to celebrate late December birthdays, so we are having an official birthday in July, bit like the Queen has but without the pomp .
Had dinner at Le Manoir a few years ago gifted by friends - a sublime experience. Staying there was eye wateringly expensive so we chose a nearby pub and taxis, worked out nicely.
Le Manoir near Oxford. Four of us are going, my hubbys Birthday is just before xmas, and my friends hubby's is between xmas and New Year. We havn't worked out the designated driver yet, as we are driving there and back in one day. Yes, overnight stays are prohibitively expensive, we are trying Lunch to see if we like it. If it is good, we may do Dinner another year, I believe there is a Travelodge a short taxi ride away. I wanted to see the gardens in high summer, and what they do with home grown veg.
I got into Kew free a couple of years ago. My OH was working at the brewery just down the road, scanning it before it got dismantled. I went along for the ride and got dropped off at 7.30. Of course it wasn't open, the main gates were locked so I thought I would go and sit in the car park and wait for the car park entrance to open. Somehow I ended up following signs that led me along a tree lined driveway and I came out next to the Orangery instead of the Car Park. Nobody about, so I acted like I should have been there and had a bit of a walk around before the place opened. I spent quite a lot in the shop and cafes, so I think that made up for it.
