At last the rain has stopped

After almost a week of mainly heavy rain it has stopped and the sun is out but more is forecast for later today.

I have a problem my small plastic greenhouse is bursting at the seams with seedlings waiting to go in. My cold frame is the same, I took a chance last week and put some plants out under cloches and I now have four trays of seedling on my study window with no where to go. My water butts can't hold anymore and the ground is to wet to get on. They say it will be drier from Sunday fingers crossed as I'm worried these seeding will get to leggy, they don't have their second leaves yet so at least they don't need to go into pots which would over take the house. Anyone else in this situation, if so what will you do.

Lyn, you live where I would Love to live. Sadly I live on the Beds/Bucks border. The sky is already threatening. I bought some plants, bulbs and Dahlia this week and can't get them in, can't wait till I get my green house in a couple of months.

I always thought that area was warmer and dry, it’s lovely to live here but you have to get used to the weather conditions and note the temps when you’re ready to plant out.
Usually 1st of June, then we get a drought!  Never happy are we 😀

My walk in plastic greenhouse is also bursting at the seems with seedlings of cosmos cornflowers ect for the bees but since sowing we've inherited a young cat that loves to chase bees and isn't scared to just dive in. I'm 99% sure all these will be flatted once put out. Didn't plan on the cat

Lyn I drove over to Woburn yesterday which is nearer to Milton Keynes than us and it was heavy rain there as well I got soaked. As you say never happy.

Old Arthritic marc, if your cat doesn't get them the rain will but you will still love your cat, don't the bee's sting her?him. All apart from three tray everything is veg. Just looked in the cold frame something has had the tops of my Spider Lillie's and my once 1 ft sunflowers are no more slugs I suspect, I'll have to take everything out and put a thick layer of sand down before putting everything back they wont like take.

It had stopped here this morning and was quite nice gardening weather. Got all set up to temporarily pot up some plants I dug up this morning and guess what, it started raining again. @Dee73 , could you construct some sort of temporary cold frame outside with plastic sheeting over garden chairs or a table perhaps?

Lyn, I used to take my children there only part I didn't like saw were the Flamingo's were, what a smell. lol

Hostafan 1 I've been in and out all afternoon with the showers and now the sky is really back again.

Lizzi27 re more space for seedlings, I have some old shelves from a previous plastic unit so put two pieces of wood across each shelf the the wire shelves. I can't get in there now but at least I have somewhere to put the seedling. Will remember you idea when the next lot are ready to go out, it'll do for now.

If anyone wants water apart from 7 water butts the path is flooded it's about 3 = inches deep, do help yourselves.

Looking out from my garden, I reckon @Lyn is getting more. I've just come in from mulching and we've not had a drop.
