I have used my new cold frame as a closhe on half my bed, in it I have carrots, radish and beetroot. Much better ratio growing than usual. I know you can thin seedlings, but can you transplant the thinnings into gaps with beetroot. I know a novice question, but it's first time beetroot growing.😊

@purplerallim, most root crops don't take well to bring transplanted.  That said beetroot can be grown in modules and transplanted,  so if they are small it's worth trying to plant the thinnings, you have nothing to loose.

That what I thought @Allotment Boy I have grown spring onions and carrots and planted them on ( but I must admit the carrot seed sown direct were better, we all learn) but in the beetroot seedlings I had two clumps of three and gaps in the rows, so moved two of the three into them, just wondered if it was a waste of time and I should have re seeded. I just hate wasting anything.😀

Checked the seedlings this morning and they look ok.

Gosh this shows how bad I am at strait lines 😊😆
Two lots of sowing three weeks apart.
Half the greenhouse planted up with tomatoes and cucumbers today, and put in the french bean ( isabel) seeds.
Hope the weather does as its predicted,  so the greenhouse doesn't get too cold.

Nice change @GWRS isn't it. Mind you it did try to rain, but ended up just a few drops, at least my water butt is full now.

Purplerallom you made me laugh with your straight lines. I only ever sow in  modules and plant out, its alot easier to get straight lines.

I've sown sweet corn and peas on kitchen roll today.

Went to the plot and did lots of weeding

I've found root crops don't like to be transplanted,  tried it with carrots and the direct sown did better.
Always transplant lettuce and spring onions, mainly the onions because that's the only way to get the variety I like Apatchi as I can never find the seed.
