I could do with some new wicker hanging baskets so I might go and see if they've got them in our local branch. At that price it doesn't really matter if the plants are compost-fodder - it's a good price just for the basket.
A**i (and other supermarkets) do have good plants but the trick is to buy them as soon as possible after they come in to the store. It's not the staff's fault but they don't have the time (or the training) to look after them properly.

Exactly Jenny. I always grab them on the day they come into store.
i must admit I have been ‘given’ poorly plants in the past from my local store and they thrived with a little TLC. I adore the poorly plant sections at my local garden centres!!
also, did you know that all major supermarkets throw away any plants, bulbs etc if unsold. Not a lot of people know but if you contact them, they contact you to collect before throwing away. It’s part of the ‘food’ economy wastage / food bank / help the homeless locally schemes.
Our local big M yellow and black signed supermarket contact me all the time. I have had countless plants and all my bulbs this year are from freebies. I literally plant in pots in my greenhouse and leave until spring or until they come on to plant out into my garden. 🥰🥰
I've been known to buy reduced plants as well. Sometimes they're absolutely fine but they need to make room for the next delivery. I wouldn't want to be contacted about freebie throwaways because it's unlikely I could get there at the right time to collect, but it's a good tip for anyone who can .

sorry it’s raining (I dashed out to take pics for you), these are the baskets 12”.
The picture with one petunia was my reuse from last year. They really do last! All 4 of the baskets I bought last year from A were stored in my greenhouse over winter and I have washed and reused all this year. Bargain. 😂😂
We live in Britain and it sounds silly to say but, it's raining hooray, we certainly need it down here or up here depending where you are. I bought an Japanese Acer from Aldi a couple of years ago, I think that it was £5 or £6, the following week I saw that they had one on the discount stand looking a bit worse for wear for £2, I bought it and it's now doing well, that is after loosing all of it's leaves the first year, the second year some of the fresh new leaves were eaten by slugs before I noticed but this year it looks good.
I recently bought a walk in greehhoue from AL.. I was away on holiday when it went on sale but could buy it the day before on the internet. It cost £25.99. Delivery was free as the order was over £25. Delivery was efficient, you get texts re timings. The apparently same product which I had seen in WILK. was about £38 so a great bargain. I shop in AL.. regularly as it's the nearest shop to me but it is a battle to walk past the plants and not succumb to temptation.
