Hardy geraniums

I've been trying to find some hardy geraniums for my  newly-cleared shady end of the garden.
I've tried a few garden centres, but the sections have been empty apart from one or two of the usual suspects - wargrave pink and the like.
Is it the wrong time of year or is it the b****t thing starting to bite?

    Never found many in garden centres either.
    Cranesbill nursery website is helpful for sorting out which ones you like and then you can shop around for best prices.
    Secret Gardening club do a few.

    I always have loads because I divide my clumps and basically  have to give them away. Any gardening  groups local to you that do swops or sales?

    I can recommend the Plantsman's Preference. They're about 30 miles from me & the owners are lovely, knowledgable people. They often have more unusual plants and their prices are reasonable too.

    I can't comment on their mail order service as I always visit - but I should think it would be fine.

    No gardening groups. Had a long hard look but there's no gardening groups anyway near me.

    GCs are probably keeping the hardy geraniums back in favour of the spring flowering stuff they are trying to sell. When the geraniums are flowering and spring is over I'm sure you'll find better stocks in the regular garden centres. It's worth tracking down smaller more specialist perennial nurseries though.

    Plantsmans Preference mail order service is great, agree their prices are good, and they have a great range.  Geranium nodosum varieties are good if you want them for shade.  I bought a lovely one, called Svelte Lilac, from Plant Pref.
