I'd definitely keep them apart, Anni. Your clem is only a youngster, and will develop into a big plant, so give it some room to show off properly I have a Group 3 near a Group 1, but the foliage/general growth is very different, so it's not an issue re pruning, but it can be tricky if different types are a bit close together.

Thanks Anni, retirement's going ok. I'm a bit frustrated just now as I've pulled a muscle again, just when I've been getting my fitness back on track. I've been too gung ho when out walking round about! I managed to get out on a hill on Monday though, and it hasn't made it too much worse, so I'm taking it easy this week ready for the next one
