Hi @chicky - sorry alll, I really dont think I am going to make it after all. Sick mother-in-law in hospital, children needing to be here there and everywhere, and too much to do I fear. Hope you all have a really lovely day, and will be thinking of you all. please do post updates and photos for inspiration! i hope to make it when life is quieter :)

Thats a shame @gardeninglily1 and @Rhubarb7 ......always difficult to know how free you’ll be so far ahead.

Great news @Big Blue Sky. There’s masses of parking at Wisley, and even the overflow car parks are pretty well organised, so you should be fine. We’ll definitely arrange a time to meet at the entrance so that we can maximise value of RHS cards 😀.  Any ideas on times you will be at Woking @LG_ and @Liriodendron ?  Takes about 30 minutes from there to Wisley, so we can build up plans from there........

I see Wisley is open from 9am on Saturdays...  is that too early for you, @chicky and @LG_?  Suggestions welcome - I can get to Woking any time, as I'm staying at the LSE's Bankside House near Waterloo...   :)

I went yesterday for the first time since they opened the new entrance buildings. Perhaps it was the trick of the much larger size of the building combined with incorrect memories but it felt like some of the shop selection was less comprehensive (much fewer house plants, seed racks that didn't feel like they matched the old two walls in the old building, not much space dedicated to edibles [probably seasonal and that the herbs were on racks outside] and the section for books dedicated to specific plant types/genera.  It's probably a trick of my memory so I'd be keen to see what others think.

Overall the new entrance definitely feels more grand and I can see the area you enter in to working really well when they hold events. The only major flaw I spotted was the outside garden area is gravelled and everyone was tracking it back inside when they went to pay and leave...

I have to go via Waterloo too, it'll take me ~40 minutes to get there, then out again to Woking. Happy to go on the early side.

It seems to be about half an hour's journey from Waterloo to Woking.

I see that Wisley is right on the M25. Can you hear it much from the gardens?

Generally no. There's a hill/ridge between most of the garden and the A3, combined with woodlands that acts as a sound barrier. If you go up the top of the hill and overlook the test garden area, the noise suddenly appears out of nowhere.  I don't think you can ever hear the M25.

The test bed area is very noisy - I  was quite shocked by the difference as you walk down into it! I assume from @ForTheBees post that that's the A3. They've done an amazing job of sheltering most of the site from it though.
