Wonderful, what a treat! Herbaceous borders are always my favourite.

@AnniD, I love Merriments. I used to go with my mother who lived in Battle. I wonder if I will ever see it again now Mum is no longer with us.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

@bizzielizzie, the first time l visited Merriments, l walked in and was moved to tears. No other garden has ever moved me like that before or since.I can't really explain why, it was quite surreal.

I've really loved looking at your photos, @LG_ and @chicky!  It was a lovely day... great to meet @Big Blue Sky too.   :)

Perhaps an idea of scale would be an improvement to the little map they hand out.  We walked around 7 miles around the grounds during the day - the distances involved from one part to another could be a problem for the un-fit!

Here are just a few extra photos...  the first 3 from the glorious Piet Oudulf borders:

Thanks, @chicky !  Yes, the Echinops was fab - was it Veitch's Blue?   :)

It was stunning. The stipa combinations were gorgeous too. I need to sort out my grasses issue  . Might use my sister's garden as a testing ground :sunglasses:
