Why can't I stop buying plants?!

  • Been to Knowsley flower show. Local to me. Brilliant day. Bought echinacea parrot, tigridia, lobelia cardinalis, gazania, a succulent, a hosta and a fern. Varieties unknown, I've started a new discussion for. Very happy as I wanted the echinacea parrot when in Tatton park flower show, but sold out when I went back to buy. Needless to say I didn't hesitate when I saw it today!

It was a lovely day out @AnniD. I do love a village fete or fun day. We get a few good ones to attend down here. As good are the Open Gardens, either the Yellow book or Hospicare supporting gardeners who kindly open their gardens to strangers.
The lady and her husband were nice folk. I think the husband was amused at my predicament but was kind enough to scribble me a map.
These Devon back lanes aren't that well signposted, and you sometimes don't see a landmark for miles. It turns out I was near a village where my daughter's friend grew up and I'd been to many times...just not via country lanes lol.

Someone mentioned autumn planting bulbs on another thread and now I have a long wish list on the Peter Nyssen website.  There's no hope for me is there.

A Peter Nyssen catalogue came through the letterbox this morning.
I haven't opened it yet, but have a notebook and pen all ready......😎
  • My excuse this year is that it's a new garden.  However, I have planted quite a few perennials so I don't know what I am going to use as an excuse next year!  It's not just garden centres that are tempting but the Gardener's World TV programme and the enthusiasm for so many different plants.

When you return from the local nursery after "just popping in to have a look"...

Excuse the mess I haven't got round to my Saturday morning jobs yet!

@WillDB nice looking plant but please do share what it is because I don't recognise it. Have you a spot in mind?

Yes I've been after a large shrub or small tree for a while. I saw this and liked the character of it, attractively irregular. It's Cercis canadensis Red Force.

Had to look that up @WillDB. Wow good find! That's a stunner, beautiful flowers in spring and wonderful autumn colour.
