I do sometimes thinking of taking out the shed so I could have bee hives or a glass house. Or having those on the roof. I don't have a lawn, but the path gets narrower every year.
Snap @Yviestevie! I've kept a book (albeit a bit battered and mud stained now) since we moved here. We're lucky enough to have 2 acres so can never have enough plants!
My old man keeps digging beds and enlarging the ones we already have,he would like to get rid of the grass, I was going to put lawn, but that's too posh a word for it We have 2 dogs, grand kids,I don't feed, weed, or water,it's full of celendines, have given up trying to remove them
One way to reduce spending on plants is to rely more on sharing cuttings with friends/family but also online. I found an online facebook group in my local area (although its mainly just houseplants) for sharing/ swapping cuttings and small/extra plants. Obviously some plants lend themselves better to this than others, but it's great for fast-growing varieties...
I hate to put perfectly healthy plants in the bin so I put those which I don't have room for any more out by the end of the drive with a note on.. I give them a label saying what they are and how big they will grow and they usually vanish fairly quickly. The only thing that didn't get taken were inheirated pale peach gladioli, obviously nobody else liked them either. I'm with @fire in that I have to operate a "one in one out" policy as I really have run out of space.
Popped into B&Q for a bag of builder's sand: Cyclamen coum reduced to 50p each. 9cm pots, in full flower. Bought 6 (2 clumps of 3) - why didn't I buy the lot?
