Same here Fairygirl,  about 3 weeks behind everyone else but still going after others are over.  Which is quite nice to have flowers in November.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

I have a screen between two 6 foot posts, with a 'box' at each end @Janie B, and they were planted in those to grow up the apple trees after they had finished. I got fed up trying to coax them where I wanted them! They were a bit feral  :D
You're a wee bit higher altitude than me @Lyn, but we probably have more frosts/snow, so on balance, it's not too dissimilar.
It's surprising how well sweet peas and other hardy annuals cope though. I can have that type of plant still going in early November if we haven't had any persistent frost/snow. I don't think sweet peas cope as well with hot, sunny conditions as they're meant to either.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I'm hoping mine wake up and go for it before Nov.
  • The first flower on mine has opened today and there are some more buds forming.

  • It’s even more purple today. How are you planning to overwinter yours, @Fire? Do they flower earlier and better in their second year?

@pitter-patter I have just bought mine inside, to a cool, east facing window-sill. One, still outside in a pot, seems to have given up the ghost and another, planted in good ground, is alive but going nowhere. Perhaps that last is not enough in full sun. Sigh.

I don't think Monty has featured his since planting. There's only a few episodes left this year, I think. I hope we get to see how his faired.
  • I wonder if I could cut it down keep it dormant in a pot in the garage over the winter.

    Worth a try!

My over-wintering plants on the windowsill are springing into action and sending out tendrils. I'm crossing fingers for a better year this time.

Great job for overwintering it. It looks healthy and I’m sure it will do better this year.
