the sooner some folk give up the Forum the better.

To return to the subject of this thread ... deleting old discussions is not a good idea and I’m glad GW rarely does it. If a thread is deleted folk can make unprovable assertions about what was said ... if the thread remains all posts can be seen.

  • I must say I was astonished at how the thread turned last evening and certainly on the supposedly offending page 2 struggled to see anything vitriolic.

I follow threads daily and have never seen @Dovefromabove offer anything oher than sensible gardening advice, contribute positively to discussions and share informed wisdom as to how to get the best out of the site, often contacting the mods on our behalf and joining in friendly chatter and banter. A case of misinterpretation I should think, always difficult without the normal face to face communication tools such as tone of voice and body language. I am certain @Dovefromabove meant no offence.

Obviously abusive PM's are not acceptable and it is such a shame that such a thing should happen, however I do think the OP should acknowledge that is was not sent from @Dovefromabove as could be construed from the comments.

I totally agree @D0rdogne_Damsel. I was astonished to read that abusive private messages have been sent. That’s not nice at all and wondered if anyone else had received such correspondence in the past. Sometimes arguments can be quite fierce on the usual controversial subjects but this current debate can’t even be upgraded to an argument, definitely not a vitriolic one. I’m baffled.

I was wondering how anyone could have ascertained her gender, marital status etc before sending an abusive pm. No indication was given in any of her posts. I thought  she was a male before she posted her biographical details.

I agree I thought it was a man and no indication given as to her status marital or otherwise I assumed there was an exchange of private messages where such things were discussed?

It smells of a construct ... same old same old ... we’ve been here before ... I’ve not done anything but mud is thrown in the hope that some will stick.

I repeat I have not sent @bronall a single PM ... and she can have no evidence that I have.

There may be more to this than meets the eye, a previous poster returning in another guise, maybe?
Her over reaction has been extraordinary, I think it would be better if she left the forum.
In case anyone is wondering, I have not sent her any PM's.

There is certainly something very odd going on here.  The OP did join in 2019 but all the posts in their history are very recent.  The suggestion that they may have been on the site under a different ID previously seems a reasonable assumption.  That in itself is not suspicious as people can forget usernames and passwords.
I'm certainly not going to tell them to leave, but will suggest they need to be more accepting of other people's opinions.

Maybe threatening innocent posters with police action suggests something not quite right somewhere?  🤣
