Rotten Lawn

my Lawn seems to be rotten and wondered if someone can advise me how to recover the lawn. 

In the winter the lown produce mushrooms which I pull out. Throughout the year most of the grass is yellowish colour. These grass easily come off but it seems it spread so quickly. 

Can anyone help?

    If the photos dont appear try reducing the size, that usually works.

    What's the soil? And how shady is the lawn? Shade + damp soil = moss.

    Hi @ DGM, Thank you for the reply. Honestly, I have no clue what is the soil. How do I check? In the summer there is a bit of a shade. What do you think I should do in regards to this ?

    That's one for the lawn experts, of which there are a good few on this forum, so I'm sure somebody will be able to offer practical advice. The trite answer is remove the shade and improve the drainage, but that can be much easier said than done, especially if the lawn is shaded in summer months.

    Okay, thank you. I've tried draining but it hasn't worked. Hopefully someone will have the answer

    You need to deal with that moss and aerate the lawn. This will let the grass breathe and grow more strongly. A thorough scarify and seed, regular cutting (every week if you can) and 4 fertiliser treatments a year will give you a great lawn

    Moss seems to be your biggest problem, you can scarify using a lawn rake (plenty of videos on YouTube), then spike it using a fork to improve the drainage. You can then reseed (over the existing grass) using a seed type more suitable for shady areas.

    Hi Glasgowdan, Thank you. Is April a good time to do this? Should I use a product to kill the moss or just pull them out?
