Marigold invasion

We have moved into a house and discovered that the garden is full of wild marigolds. What is the best way to get rid of it please?

marsh marigolds are very good for early food for bees, but they die down and go to sleep once they've flowered.
I'd let them be for a while before doing anything rash.

  • I don't mind some but every border is choked and they are spreading into the lawn!

offer them on freecycle and see if anyone wants to come and clear them for you

    There you go hosta.

I guess pulling them them out would be the way to start removing them. There is likely to be seed in the ground which will germinate at some point but if you keep removing the plants before they set seed you’ll get there.

Are you sure of your ID? Have a look at Lesser Celandine

It would be a very boggy garden that was over-run by Marsh Marigolds
