Beauty In Weeds

I know that most of us hate the weeds, but I could not resist taking this picture of a dandelion in my garden. I just loved the tall straight stem and the spherical shape of the flower head. I have entered this picture into a few of the gardening magazines, and a couple have come back saying that they may put them into their issues. Fingers crossed, if successful it will be my 5th entry so far that has been published.

If dandelions were rare and difficult to grow, every gardener would want them!

...and if slugs ate bitter cress and bindweed we'd all be making little slugitats for them to live in. I have told them.

Thanks for posting your pic of that dandelion, @Jacqueline29 .
Dandelions sure can make great subjects for close-up photos. Here are a few of my favourites. More on my photo site at http://www.rezeau.org/wp-photo/vegetal-2/

  • @Jacqueline29,..a beautiful image,..lovely contrast with the greenery in the background,..well captured.

All beautiful - but I still don't want them in my garden.   Apart from their being far too free with their seeds I don't like the flower.  Happy to eat the leaves if blanched.

  • My tortoises love munching the yellow flowers and the leaves therefore all dandelions are welcome in my garden (just not in my flower bed) to give them fresh food.
  • Thank you for your lovely comments, your pictures are amazing Papi Jo.

I received an email yesterday, saying that my picture is going to be in the Amateur Gardening magazine on the 30th March. Well pleased, as having a difficult time at the moment, husband poorly and waiting for some test results. Other then priority looking after him, my garden is my sanctuary and also taking photographs.
