Great to see Adam back again and York Gate looks fascinating. Enjoyed all those annual climbers too.
Why, of all the amazing colours and forms and textures of conifer available did Monty choose those exceedingly boring pencil junipers? He needs to get out more.

As far as I know evergreen conifers don't attract pollinating insects - surely with all the publicity on declining numbers of bees he should be helping us to select suitable plants for them. Also last week when he sowed new seed he told us to immerse seed trays into water rather than using a watering can, tonight he casually watered from above.
Having said that I did find the article on annual climbers interesting and also planting out seed potatoes.
Yes a lovely colour but does it need as much dead heading as regular bedding petunias do, as I'm fed up of them and am not planning to put them in this year.
I liked the red petunias most of all too, although I have to agree with purplerallim that the amount of deadheading and rain spoiling the flowers has put me off growing them for the past couple of years. However I just plant a few Night Sky bushy ones now.
I moved a terracotta pot of Red Velour into the cold frame and it is looking remarkably healthy. Tomorrow I’ll try to post a photo. The ones left outside all winter in the hay basket have not succumbed either.
