I didn't think of that @islander. Maybe she was buying them as gifts, but I was shocked at the price of one plant. I have not bought any GC plants for a long time so they seemed over the top pricey to me.

In our local, independent, garden centre hellebores are £17.99 (here we go again - why not £18?) but they’re big and very floriferous.

I found a website that makes garden centre prices look reasonable. It sells 'rare' succulents but mostly as cuttings. They'll sell you one leaf off a plant for 4 Euros or more. Not a rooted cutting but just a freshly picked leaf stuffed into an envelope. A great way to make money from a plant if you can get people to pay it :|

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I was looking online for something [can't remember what] but I needed to see the colour and my 'local' nursery's site  didn't have a pic. 2 litre size - 13 quid.
I googled, and just clicked on the first place that came up [ a well known supplier named after a spring bulb] to see if they had a pic. They did, and also had the price.
The same size shrub, 2 litre pot, was 35 quid.  :D

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I went to Wyevale yesterday and their prices are getting crazy. In fairness there was a lot of choice and the plants looked great but even with a £5 off voucher I didn't want to buy the plants I was after. :/
