Glad it worked out w.edges. I know what you mean about trying to get a job done, and weighing up the best option when you only have a certain amount of time to do it. I've done a similar thing in the past when something's been less than perfect

Like other people have said it's the chemical used to treat the timber coming to the surface. Often happens when the timber is too wet when treated and the moisture escapes pulling some of the treatment to the surface. It will wash away with rain over time.
Had a go with just brushing it off (used a light scouring pad), no bleach at this stage, and white dust just come off it. However, seems to have made it worse as its blending all the colours into a bigger patch. I'm considering just painting over it to be honest
