Valentine's Day

I've been told in the past that you should cut off last year's leaves from hellebores on Valentine's Day. But I do worry about what would be feeding them, as they're flowering their little socks off, if this year's leaves have yet to really get going.

So, should I chop away and then go out for a nice meal? Or just go out for the meal?

  • I don't have any but I will take the advice and have a meal and just a glass or two of wine if that's OK? 🥴🍷🍷🥴

Nope <shakes head> Can't have a meal or a drink unless you've cut some leaves off ... not sure if it's one glass per leaf mind you!

DGM, it's Valentine's.  Forget the hellebores.  Remember...the wine!

    or even

    ;)

  • It's got to be wine, meal with wine and brandy after! Or if you wish even a cocktail first then wine....  maybe garden can wait.😈

I would get OH to remove the leaves, leaving me to drink the wine. :)

One leaf per glass sounds ok, I’ll see you all next week! 😀
