I know! I swear more have grown in the last half hour while I was taking the kids to school! I still haven’t got my garlic in as the soil for my beds doesn’t come until tomorrow so a bit late, but nothing ventured! 😬

I sowed some peas into gutters in the greenhouse a while back and have been checking them each week, a couple of days ago I noticed that they were poking their heads out and what's more important that there was a good germination rate. The broad beans in toilet roll tubes aren't showing yet though.

It’s like becoming a parent every time lol! I wonder if gardeners suffer more with Adrenalin fatigue?! πŸ˜‚

I've been sowing seeds for almost 50 years and it's still one of the greatest joys when theygerminate

I’m a Newbie by comparison Hostafan, glad to hear the joy lasts a lifetime. I’m thinking of playing mother/father with some helebores, as I have flowers yet to open. I know it takes years for them to flower and I’ve no idea what I’m doing but sounds like fun! 😁

If you have the time and the space, you clearly have the enthusiasm, why not give them a bash?
Once you have a bit of a "production line" of seeds going, you soon forget how long they've been there as there's normally something maturing as some are just starting.

  • I've just set up my propagator today. It goes on my bedroom windowsill, which is almost at floor level (old house), and the first thing I do when I get out of bed in the morning is go over to see what has popped up overnight!
Planted onion seeds, artichokes and petunias, but trying hard to wait a bit for more things as springs here can be chilly and late.

I’m the same lol! Mine are on the kitchen island under roof lights, even my daughter is checking every morning as she helped sow them. I’ve got broad bean, lettuce, rocket, onion, beetroot, ox eye daisy and ammi majus on the go but only the lettuce and rocket are sprouting just now..
