Anyone done any gardening today? Part 5

  • Had a potter round with my Secateurs. Removed a few weeds. Found a budlea seed that had germinated and was growing, I moved it to somewhere more suitable (it might take off, it might not).

Had a natter with my next door neighbour over the hedge. She is planning a veggie patch so she can grow with her children.

Such a lovely spring day. It was the first day I could hear other people enjoying their gardens too. There were mowers mowing, radios, chatter etc..

Planted out a few stray specimens that had been lying around the garden in pots, tulips, achillea, and viola.  Topped up the acer pots and added a slow release feed.  Getting through the jobs a few at a time.

Planted the tiny foxglove plants and wished them luck. Rescued the plants that have been tucked up against the wall, checked them over, pulled off dead bits etc.
Found a load of pots that need washing, might do that tomorrow if it's still comparatively mild. One of my neighbours decided it was mild enough today to have a barbecue 😳.

BBQ!  @AnniD I would be happy to just see the garden, had fog the last two days. Still managed to plant strawberries,  chop up twigs, transplant lily of the valley and London pride into a trough, cut back the flamingo willow and plant up white geraniums to grow on inside. Love the bit of colour appearing in the garden, even a very early tulip.

It's flipping cold out there today.  Have planted rose Eustacia Vye and sprayed all my roses with sulphur to try and combat black spot which was rife last year.  Moved a Carex.  Wanted to do more but I was just too cold.

What a beautiful weekend it was to be in the garden!  Temperatures quite low but you can really feel the sun now.  I had a bulk delivery of peat-free compost so I gave a good deep mulch to all my roses and various other shrubs plus some acers I had planted in November.  Sowed some seeds in the greenhouse and finished pruning back my beech hedge which previous owners had allowed to get very straggly.  Planted out some Japanese anemones under an oak tree and a climbing hydrangea against a shady fence.

Sowed first seeds of the year this afternoon.  Chilli De Cayenne, Pepper Razzamatazz, Silver Snapdragons, Shasta Daisies, Snapdragon Twinny Rose, Marigold Naughty Marietta, Larkspur and Snapdragon Lucky Lips.

I planted out the last few pots of daffodils (Thalia) but it's cold so I didn't stay out long.

Spent more time in the front garden, should be on the Allotment but I'm trying to finish one job at a time.
