I think the purpose of hub caps is to decorate the hedgrows and verges of Britain.

Whereas now you can have alloys which, after a while, become completely stuck to the hubs

Copper grease is great for all kinds of wheel and brake maintenance. Just don't get it on the bits that help you stop.

I always wondered about alloy wheels in the same way I wonder about those trainers with Palladian arches in the soles. What if you thread in something? I suppose your mum will clean them out for you  or buy you some of those knitted trainers. What's that all about??

Re hub caps:  an enterprising farmer in Northumberland attaches cast-off hub caps, rescued from hedgerows, to the tops of his fence posts as weather protection.   :)
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

The thing is... When I look in the car parks, mine seems to be the only car sans hub caps. Do people keep replacing them?

Cheltenham Racecourse is planning to do away with 'Ladies Day' and replace it with 'Best Dress' day to become more inclusive!  Really couldn't make it up.

What happens on Ladies Day? Are the jockeys shirtless?

They probably have cable ties holding them on. ;)

I've seen some amazing sculptures created from hubcaps. I assume ones found in hedges rather than nicked off B3's car :#
