Charity bags are far too big for my kitchen waste bin - and they have holes in them! Most of my rubbish is recycled, so the kitchen bin is about the same size as a pedal bin. The wheely bin's emptied every three weeks and it's rarely anywhere near full. Maybe I just have less junk than other people
It's the principle that annoys me. I donate goods to charity when I have something to donate, and I also have reservations about how much the charities actually get. Bit like the Christmas cards nonsense.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Fairy, how can you have less junk than other people when you're TIDY? That implies that you throw things away... or maybe you just don't collect it in the first place. (Now there's a thought...)
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Day 3 of the Great Gas Saga. Head honcho arrived yesterday (day 2) around 5pm, to work out how to connect everyone up to the new gas main. More running up & down stairs (at least he removed his boots) to see what could be done - more head shaking and eye rolling - plus a phone call to (presumably) the even bigger honcho, saying this was a nightmare and he had no idea what they could do, and why hadn't this job been logged as an emergency? "We've disconnected 7 houses without a plan for how to connect them up again..." I probably wasn't supposed to be listening, but it was hard not to hear.
We were promised a phone call "last night or this morning" to let us know what they'd be doing. Guess if we've had a call yet...

Well liri at least one of them seems to realise how bad things are even if he can't get owt done just yet. Good luck with all that and practice the slow, deep breaths.
I buy charity cards at source - RHS, RNLI etc - not packs from shops saying a percentage goes to charity. Only send them to a select few these days.
Have fun WE. Sounds like a gem.
Back to painting doors for me. For some reason, the expensive new water based satin finish for wood went on the new bathroom doors and the old sliding doors on the built n cupboard just fine but sat like oil on water on the similarly undercoated bedroom door. No idea why but frustrating so I've sanded it and washed it and will use proper paint on it. So much for paint technology!
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Oh Liri - I've just read about your hassle. What is wrong with these idiots? You'd think they could have some sort of plan organised. Then I read B3's post....
and you're right - I just don't collect it in the first place

oh Liri ... we’re having a beef ragu and pasta tonight ... I’ll make extra and recruit a carrier pigeon ((hugs))
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
