Haven’t knitted for a while now you mention it! I can sow my onions and broad beans and get some garlic in, lettuce toward the end of the month and spring onion, enough to be going on with- even scored some free module trays from my locally nursery as I asked if they had any old ones. Happy days! 😃

Don’t sow too early, we may get another beast again like last year.  Patience is the way to go in gardening.
You can always knit yourself a nice warm jumper while you’re  waiting for the weather, well, that’s what I do😀
Or, as I do, sow early but keep some seed back in case the first lot get frozen.  Belt and braces.  Then, if the cold snap fails to materialise, you've got a head start.  And it doesn't preclude knitting!

Good good point! I don’t think winter is done with us yet... perhaps I should knit little scarves for my lettuce! 😂

My spring surprise is that rose Lady Emma Hamilton is already in bud and one bloom just opening. We will have frosts for some time yet but the warm days are encouraging stuff to come out, possibly too early!

How lovely to have a rose this early! Roses aren’t keen on my garden.. soil is chalky and awful and it’s a bit exposed, but I’m going to try Mdme Alfred Carrier this year. I’ve got Claire Austin which just makes a mess to be honest!
  • The crocuses planted between the lime trees along Newmarket Road were opening this morning ... there was no sign of them first thing yesterday.
