Spring surprise

So I’m outside caked in mud building raised beds etc and had to move a few plants etc, which then led to me moving the bird feeder and as I’m walking around I realised, the Pulmonaria is just starting to flower, honeysuckle is leafing up, buds have burst on a viburnum Anne Russel and the verbena bonariensisis which I left to seed around have all started sprouting new leaves from last years stems! There was me thinking nothing would be going on for a while yet, really cheered me up after such a grubby, backbreaking day! 😁

    Pulmanaria do you mean? I’ve got some blue and red ones out, a lovely early spring flower.

    Yes it’s bloomin spellcheck lol!!! I was so happy to see it, I’ve had my back bent building and digging for the last few weeks and just haven’t taken the time to look around..

    Have you got some snowdrops peeping through as well, always looks springlike.

    No sadly many of my spring bulbs got nabbed by the mice when I planted them.. I meant to get some in the green to plant last year and didn’t get round to it. Primroses have been flowering pretty much all year and other bulbs are starting to make their move but still small...

    No no sign of our pulmonarias yet, but driving home today through gorgeous North Suffolk the fields of winter wheat were looking a fresher shade of green, the young willow withies gleamed red and gold in the sunlight and the alders and hazels were full of catkins. Spring’s definitely on its way 🌷

    Mine too,  but not more behind than any other year,  primroses have been good though.
    hellebores are doing well.

    That’s a lovely picture you paint Dove! Yes Lyn my hellebores have been good this year, last year not so good as I’d moved them but they seem to have forgiven me now! 😬

    Talking  of lovely bright greens, my aconitums have made a start, the most beautiful lime green colour, really stands out from the other plants.

    I do love a splash of lime green... hoping to get some euphorbia this year, when funds allow! I’m so excited for spring this year, must stop myself sowing things too early, but my new veg beds should keep me busy for the next month on the sowing front.... at least they will when the soil gets delivered!

    Don’t sow too early, we may get another beast again like last year.  Patience is the way to go in gardening. 
    You can always knit yourself a nice warm jumper while you’re  waiting for the weather, well, that’s what I do😀
