It has been grey and/or wet with horrid, cold, strong winds for the last few days here in south Norfolk. There is a hard frost this morning, wind has dropped. Outdoor thermometer has broken but we aren't far from @Dovefromabove so it's probably about -5C.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • -6 and 20 mins to defrost/de-mist the car (wet dog blankets 🤦🏼‍♀️) here in Hertfordshire.  I was planning on pruning my roses today …. bad idea?? I really wanted to get in the garden while it’s dry at least!  Anyone else consider pruning in this weather?   There is so much conflicting advice on the web so thought I’d turn to the experts!  TIA
  • OOOOOOOHHHHHHH! Cornwall and we have had about 4 ins of snow! I looked out his morning at 7.30 am and there was already a snowman, resplendent with red scarf, in next doors garden. I love how it looks but.
Yesterday was lovely, a cold wind but sunny, sat on a bench and topped up my sun tan for a few minutes when out with the dog but today? Ugh Ugh. I think not.
There is no sign of it thawing yet.
There was a local yellow weather warning last night and we followed a gritting lorry for quite a while coming home from Truro around 10.00 pm but I was not expecting this.

  • Very hard frost here, everything glittering silver. Sun and blue sky have pushed back the original bank of cloud to the south. Greenhouse ok, hasn't dropped below zero.

Hard white frost and bright blue sky here too. And absolutely still, so no washing out - it would freeze stiff.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

It's hovering at 0 degrees here, but there's been some sun to light up the snowy grasses!

    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.

-4.7c at 8 am today and a very hard frost. Now we've got sunshine and temps are now hovering around -1.

@Alleyblueeyes, not a good idea to prune roses whilst it's freezing. The cut tips are likely to die off and then you will need to reprune later. They won't hurt if you have to leave them to mid-March.
North East Somerset - Clay soil over limestone
  • A very hard frost here in Kent also. Thankfully the car lives in a garage, but so many owners out, scraping the ice!!
Cold, but bright enough to get some of the north facing windows cleaned before lunch.
    How satisfying!! :)

    Thanks @Lizzie27 👍🏻  I’ll hold fire!
  • Thank goodness there is a lull in the weather!
Flat grey sky, no wind, snow, hail, or rain! Hallelujah!
Yesterday was horrible, with vicious hail storms at intervals throughout the day. Freezing cold as well. So painful to get caught in.
