Fairly good this morning and warmer, but is now raining heavily - again!
North East Somerset - Clay soil over limestone
  • Not at all cold here either, now raining although was dry this morning. How much longer is this damp/wet weather going to continue for?  At least for the next 5 days according to our local weather station. :'(

Walked out of work thinking how mild it felt. Since then, however, the rain is coming down and high winds and thundery rain are forecast.
My garden and I live in South Wales.

Very stormy this morning - but the wind speed has just dropped down. More rain to come but safer and calmer.

Started raining this morning and very heavy at times
Was going to g/c to look at Apple trees for allotment but decided just to wet
    Lincoln
  • Woken up with howling winds up to Force 9 - 10, plenty of debris around in the garden and throughout the island, boats cancelled too, the wind has now dropped to around Force 5 or 6 - all the time it has been raining too. The air temperature is still mild thankfully.

Gurnsey D , do you often get such powerful winds ?
  • Probably 2 or 3 times a year the winds are up to or worse than Storm force 10, although up to Force 7 or 8 is more frequent, probably 8 - 10 times in a year on average.  We have just 4 left of 12 very tall pine trees in our driveway (planted almost 100 years ago), so we are always a little jittery that they may come down and damage the walls, block the road or seriously harm someone on one of these stormy occasions. I used to love walking across the beach during this type of weather - so wild and dramatic and yet feeling secure in the knowledge that I could go back to a warm and comfortable home.
