Much easier to change your bird feeders for squirrel proof ones - It wouldn't be easy to catch squirrels, much less kill them and dispose of the bodies.

A cage will stop the Parakeets getting to the feeder which the OP wants to keep.
Best of luck! Actually the birds are not starving, there is plenty of natural food around at the moment as it's been so mild and if you live near other houses, the birds will be visiting other feeders as well - they are just greedy.
I agree the Parakeets are invasive aliens and should not be encoraged anymore than the grey squirrels. To deter any mammal from the bird food simply mix some hot chilli powder in it. The birds love it they do not have the same heat receptors as the mammals & they hate it. A teaspoonful mixed in a 250 g bag of feed is more than enough.
