    I know you're all keen but the mornings will continue to come later into 2nd week of Jan so the improvement won't be obvious for a while yet. Some say this is actually the start of winter & up to now has still been Autumn. :#

    In the UK we don't actually start to get longer days until between 14 and 19 January just depends on how far the earth tilts each year this year we are about half so 16 or 17 should start to see a change.

    The longest night this year will be tomorrow 22nd again this varies each year between 21 and 23 but due to our northerly position we don't benefit until January

    I have just dug out my shorts, a quick wash to freshen them up...but they will take ages to dry on the line :D

    I don’t really understand the two of the posts above. In Leicester the latest sunrise in the year is on December 31st when it is at 8.16 am. A week or so later it is at 8.10 am.

    Winter is the shortest season, not by much though.
    Full moon as well which won’t happen again until 2029 .
    Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
