Now is that the truth, w.edges, or just a ploy to get some  peace and quiet..... ;)

You have my sympathy. Not something mine ever had, but I know how cr*p it can be when you're knackered, and expected to be full of the joys of the season  :/
Hope you get some peace at some point. Stuff your face with all available junk lying around instead to get you through it  ;)

Let's hope they know you mean it wild edges, and don't turn up tomorrow shouting "surprise , we knew you were joking!"
  • Oh flippin’ ‘eck @wild edges  ... that went through our village like a dose of salts when @WonkyWomble was a young ‘un. Every other child had purple patches from being treated with gentian violet or some such stuff. It does make them crotchety poor things. You have my sympathy  :(

With reference to the theft of lead from roofs.  There are now alternatives and I actually did see a sign on a building recently stating there was no lead on the roof it had been replaced with some other product.
As to why lead is used again after it has been stolen upteen times, the blame for that can often be laid squarely on the shoulders of the people who manage listed buildings.  They will insist on like for like replacement irrespective of the history of thefts.  They don't have to pay for it.
There is an insurer for religious building.  Ecclesiastical Insurance started life for that specific purpose although it does other types of commercial insurance.  It's based in Gloucester.

I’d have thought in this day and age of political correctness that the word Christmas would have been deleted from the Queens  speech.

Delete the word Queen as well to satisfy the anti-monarchy lot too.

Don't be silly Lyn.   She's the "Supreme Governor" of the Anglican church and defender of the faith.   Definitely Christmas for that lot.

Well we've all done some schedule realigning and Jesus's birthday is now officially the 29th in this house. He hasn't been in touch to complain so I assume he's ok with it. The bird is now frozen and the veg will have to become soup. One day we'll have a normal xmas again. Last year we cancelled it as he had an operation 2 days before and was in recovery. The year before was much more relaxed but that's basically how we ended up in the baby situation in the first place  :#

I thought we were in for a better night but he slept just long enough for me to eat dinner, wrap presents and get comfy and warm in bed before he woke up again. Promising sign that he's on the mend though. :)
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I hope you have as good a Christmas as you can under the circumstances @wild edges ,  we can all get back to being curmudgeonly after Christmas!   :)

Clearly, being relaxed leads to complications WE.  I'd stay on edge if I were you - assuming you want normal sleep patterns and festivities on time.   Predictability can be over-rated tho.
