Resigned rather than curmudgeonly, I trudged up to the end of the garden over moss and worm casts - moss is green -green is good - to see if the birds had left me any holly berries. They left me one and it was a bit squashed. However, there were roses, primroses, helibores, viburnum and even a penstemon. It's nice to see that the garden can manage on it own for a few months - just as well.
Oh - you're not nearly curmudgeonly enough, B3 Everything here is frozen solid, but the white hellebores are glowing, and the primulas are rarely out of flower. Loads of greenery, and still plenty of cotoneaster berries, 'tho not many pyracantha, and I don't have any on my holly anyway. Lovely to have greenery at this time of year.
I was very curmudgeonly about getting to the pond to defrost it though. Slightly worried I would slip and then slide in... like the starling nearly did earlier
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I am a little miffed (have down graded curmudgeon level in honour of the time of year), that the BBC etc. have released details of the Queen's Christmas speech. There's a clue in the title ! It's bad enough when they say "The Prime Minister (or whoever) will today make a speech in which she will say....". Why bother making a speech, just do a press release then.
Yes, that will be it ! It's like opening all your Christmas presents before the day (or Christmas Eve if that's your thing), and having nothing to look forward to!
Spoiler alert. The Queen will sit surrounded by tax payer funded opulence and patronise us about how we should be living our lives in her opinion. One won't be watching.
In other news we've just cancelled xmas. The baby has foot and mouth disease and hasn't let us sleep in days so we've had to tell everyone they can bugger off if they're expecting to be fed.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

With any luck they'll take pity and feed you or even give you the precious gift of sleep.
