Have you contacted the sender?  :)
    Yes.  They hadn't reopened it.
Then you really should report it to Royal Mail ... do you still have the envelope?

Envelope is long gone.  I honestly don't see what RM could do about it.  It was posted about 400 miles away and will have gone through many pairs of hands to get to us.  Much as I agree that whoever tampered with it shouldn't be allowed to get away with it, I don't see the benefit to anybody of staff at RM going through the motions and then saying they have been unable to resolve the matter.
  • It alerts them to the problem ... how can we expect them to stop bad stuff happening if we don't tell them?
I don't expect they could do anything  about that one incident but it puts them on their guard ... and they can let staff know that people do report stuff.

My postman is a lovely chap but has a terrible habit of wandering the streets in the rain with a handful of letters gradually turning to mush.
Another delivery of damp letters today. All waterproof contents though luckily.

and my BBC wildlife magazine came  :)  I love it when it turns up on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Only one piece of junk mail inside too unlike some other BBC publications that seem to be crammed full of reams of paper asking us to do things like save the rainforests and join the woodland trust...
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
