Maybe we should start a "Christmas and New Year Curmudgeon's thread" !

That thread would be busy! 😂
My garden and I live in South Wales.
  • Will be putting ours up as late as poss. this year.

Our old house always looks lovely decorated up, I do foliage arrangements for tables and odd corners, and we have gathered a set of favourite and somewhat quirky bits and pieces over the years, that do help the darkest, dreariest days pass  more agreably.

Daughter works in 'hospitality', and though she is off Christmas Day, she is working Boxing Day and quite likely to get called in for Christmas Eve, so not realistically able to get home for a relaxed Christmas.

It was the same last year, so we shall do again what we did then - we had 'Christmas' in early January , and had a lovely time with good food and drink,  enjoyable company and better TV :).

I'm another New Year hater, have been since a child. Though generally heartily glad to see the back of the old year, there is usually little reason to suppose the New one will be any better. Not sure that this New Year will be any different!

My tree went up today as both of my grandchildren were here and they were excited about helping to decorate it. At age 5 and 2 I think it is wonderful to share the magic of Christmas with them. If it was up to me, I would have waited another week though.

New Year is not my cup of tea at all.

Collected Christmas tree today - it’s having a good soak outside before it meets the central heating and the cats. Bit early for us, but we off work and thought - why not.
