Forest ,wrap up and drink plenty of warm drinks .We don’t want you getting a cold . Many years ago OH and me were walking on Howarth Moors . I t was clear and bright when we set off . When we were halfway through our walk it started to snow ,within fifteen minutes we had a blizzard . We couldn’t see anything it was realy frightening . Before the snow we had seen an animal shelter about five minutes back . So we turned round and fumbled our way falling and stumbling over unseen stones and tussocks of grass. About half an our later we found the shelter, more good luck than knowing where we were going . It was empty . We crawled in and snuggled up to keep warm . The blizzard lasted for about two hours . We were very cold . We never went out without a flask of coffee and sandwiches ,so we were just about warm enough to keep us going. We eventually crawled out to a complete white out . We had all the right clothes and boots on but we had forgotten the compass . So we began to walk very carefully in the direction we thought was right . After a few minutes we heard an engine ,it was a farmers tractor .The farmer had come out to see ifany of his sheep were trapped . He very kindly led us back into Howarth .We were so thankful to the chap but he took it all in his stride . We went into the kings arms and they were lovely to us plenty of hot drinks etc . We felt awful but intact. After several hours we ambled our way back home .first on a mini bus then on the bus that took us back home . We didn’t feel warm for weeks . But OH was stronger than me .A couple of days later I developed a flu like condition .I was ill for several weeks . And that all happened on a Whit’ Monday ?
Sorry some of you have had to cancel plans due to to sleet and snow. There's a cold north easterly wind here but otherwise a pleasant sunny day. T'bird, there must be a lovely smell in your kitchen from the C...s pud. LB, take heed of Pasy's warning re the pheasants. Stomach seems to have settled so I'm going to have some toast and marmalade. Playing safe.
