Unknown Identity

Hello,
can anyone help me identify these seeds and the matching leaf? My parents have asked me to propagate them for them but the plant they came from didn’t have a label! I originally thought it was a sycamore but the place where they saw the plant stated that it wasn’t although the seed ppds are similar.
They did originally think it may be from the mulberry family but judging from the leaf I’m not so sure .... any help would be greatly appreciated so I can try and sow the seeds accordingly, always worth a try!

Possibly Acer davidii, or one of its cultivars, like this one? Do you know what the bark looks like?

  • From what they remember it was a flakey, clay coloured like bark.

I'd sow them. They are an Acer, nothing else has seeds like that. Mulberry has berries. Sow them now and leave them outside, if they are ripe and fertile they will germinate in spring

Could be Acer davidii then.  I was going by the leaf shape.  At first I was thinking field maple but I don't think the leaves are right for that.

A photo of the plant with twigs and a few more leaves would be helpful.

  • Unfortunately I don’t have any photos of the plant as my parents who asked me to propagate it didn’t take any and just brought the one leaf from where they got it. Helpful I know haha I agree though I didn’t think it was a mulberry either.
  • Could also be acer griseum?  Have a quick look on Google - leaf shape looks right and if it is you may recognise the distinctive peeling bark

Please can we see more pics to show the leaves.
Acer griseum is trifoliate...it has 3 leaflets.

  • Silver surfer I’m afraid that’s the only leaf I was given from the plant, I was given that and the seeds to propagate, nothing else.
  • Hard to help without more info.
It is not Acer campestre...field maple...leaf not right.
