I just heard on the radio that this government will, most graciously, allow butchers from ..forign lands to come over without being fluent in our lingo.  So magnanimous!  I just wonder if we'll get as many butchers as we got drivers...

I fear that too.  When you have 27 countries to choose from, perhaps a Christmas offer isn't that tempting; but let's hope some of them will for the sake of those who voted Remain.

We spent Friday and Saturday with daughter- special occasion.  On Friday night, the neighbours opposite had their car stolen from their drive.  Apparently, they even had a security Faraday pouch - whatever that is, but...

The police, it would seem, were not too bothered!

Can anything deter a determined thief?

Apparently, Helen, there's something called an Autowatch Ghost Immobiliser that might.  It stops the engine from starting- says OH; but it is very expensive (about £500) and has to be installed by specialists.

I've just watched "Nature and Us: A History through Art". I found it totally absorbing till James Wong appeared.  According to him Genesis, and by obvious extension, The Old Testament, expound Christian ideas!!!!!

The chap has never heard of Judaism, obviously.

It seems to me that sometimes many an ignorant soul attacks Christianity about anything that s/he doesn't like and, maybe, doesn't know how to research?

I saw it "live" during the week.

I have to admit that I often find the pronouncements of J Wong a bit odd.  I almost laughed when he gave us his... opinion on that.  Obviously he'd heard the bit,

“Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

but had no idea where it came from!

Very odd!  During Chelsea, he was doing a piece to camera and kept referring to the compost he was using as the "mediA".

I think because we use the collective noun "media" when referring to the various forms of mass communication, he must've imagined it could be used indiscriminately.  Just as other such "stars" say the phenomenA is, the criteria is, the bacteria is....

    Singulars, Plurals ??  Wot???

For those who feel sorry about the suffering of poor animals during the month of the annual blitz, and want to do something about it, apparently Asda are selling no-bang fireworks that help:
