"Boris Johnson says he has "complete confidence" in the health secretary Matt Hancock. "
I wonder who his replacement will be🤔

    I think so too.

As for Carrot, you know what they say about redheads. ;)
  • Paul Weller on BBC 2.  A few minutes ago I heard, "You Do Something to Me".

    Still somewhere else...

That's a moving song, Danae.  I like it a lot.  Many years ago, we used to have some of his CDs.  One was Stanley Road and the other that I remember was Wild Wood.  We used to play them a lot.  I don't know how they disappeared!  The offspring...??

I believe some newlyweds in the 90s chose You Do Something to Me for their first dance.  A bit odd, perhaps, since the song is about unrequited love!

Glad to say Carrot and her groom didn't use it!  The rain kept off and everything about the wedding was lovely!

I agree, it's appealing in its rather painful beauty...
I didn't know people played it at their weddings.  However, I do know that many newlyweds have danced to Every Breath You Take!  Surely, that's a rather sinister song.
Yesterday's special birthday celebration went very well.  We had no rain and several garden heaters, so really happy to stay outside and equally happy with the food.  They had Spanish caterers who provided us with a very tasty paella, and churros with hot chocolate.
    Absolutely lovely!

You Do Something to Me reminds me of a specific incident in the late 90s.

As I wanted to speak to one of my students one day, I went to the student common room to, hopefully, find him.  When I opened the door, I found the whole room in TOTAL silence as they were all listening to that song; some of them sitting on the floor in order to be very close to the CD player!  If only they could be that silent in lectures!

One early spring, many years ago, I bought some roses from my local supermarket.  They and/or their offspring are still blooming, even in weather like this!  They do help cheer me up!

She planted herself where she chose.  Love aquilegias!

What beautiful roses, Zoe!  The self-seeded aquilegia looks so aetherial!

I used to have a Peace - which was a little more yellow than yours- and a pink Grandiflora- your last rose looks quite a bit like it, I think- but I didn't take them with me when I moved, so I'm missing them.
