The bad publicity in Europe has apparently affected the take-up of AZ over there. As a result, some see it as an inferior product. Apparently there is a lot of it sitting unwanted in fridges.  It seems they're being a bit dog- in - the -  manger.

    Talk about Catch 22 😡

If it was Russia or Iran  doing this the UK government would be condemning them

I popped in to the tiny local branch of my bank yesterday for a minor transaction.  One person at one of the 2 tills, one customer in front of her and me in the shop.

The cashier, rather loudly, asked the customer whether she was a Miss or a Mrs; she had, apparently, written Ms.  Customer, in foreign and rather irritated tones, replied, "What's the difference?"  The cashier kind of explained.  Customer asked, "What is your title?"  Smugly the cashier answered, "I'm married, I'm Mrs."  Customer then asked, "And what's your husband's title?"  With clearly displayed "patience", the cashier said, "Mr."  "And what was it BEFORE he got married?" asked the customer.
With a face angrily red, the cashier muttered some explanation.

Her anger clearly showed she had got the message....

I don't get it, why did she find "Ms" unacceptable?  Was she trying to bully this foreign lady?  I rather feel she needs reporting.

I suspect it was in the way of 'have you got a man who can act as a guarantor in case you do something girlie like get pregnant or spend all your money on shoes.'

I suspect you're right, B3; especially wasting your money on footwear!
