Books, like much else in life, either appeal or fail to do so. The skill of the writer, not just his/her "knowledge of facts" has much to do with it, I believe. Those truly effortful styles just wear me out!
I haven't read F Tophill's book, though as a presenter I like her enormously. As for Monty, he is simply gifted. I do hope all is well with him, as he seems to be absent from GW rather often lately.
I've got an optician's appointment next week and I'm not sure if I can go due to being on lockdown and not being allowed to leave the borough. I'm more concerned that I'll be stopped by police who'll think I'm taking the Mick if I say I'm going for an eye test.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

One of the gardening books I like is Monty's "The Complete Gardener".
I do agree, he's a gifted man. Also agree that his absences have been rather too frequent. Let's hope nothing is really wrong.
Stephen Fry has described it well.
Now I must see to breakfast!
Such an upsetting book!
Next year I will be the only person ever to get less than three from a Sweet Millions.
