Please tell me this isn't possible....

I have been working on the far side of my garden today, along the hedge. As I worked, I became aware of twittering, as of a small flock of birds. It was quite pleasant, although I couldn't SEE any birds of the right sort. Oddly, it went on and on. Sometimes there was a pause, then off it would go again. It became unnaturally repetitious: same birds, same place, same pattern of song.
I think it was a recording of some sort, playing on a loop. My neighbours down there do favour plastic animals (sometimes knocked over by real foxes and badgers).Could it possibly be the case that real birdsong is being replaced by a virtual one? Am I losing the plot?

When Geoff Hamilton made his Paradise Gardens series there was a chap in Chelsea (I think) who'd made the most amazing roof garden but then played sound tracks of birdsong from his country origins while he sat up there admiring his blooms.
On the other hand, I've just been out plantig garlc and there's a great deal of song and twittering and fluttering going on, but not repetitive. I think I may be being adopted by a robin. First time in 27 years of gardening with continental birds.
Sparrows often congregate together in bushes and "chatter" a lot but if it is the same sequence repeated at regular intervals, it's probably a recording. One of our garden centres does this around their bird food section, which is semi outdoors. It fools a lot of people!
In the sticks near Peterborough
I pass a garden up in the north east when I head that way to walk, which has the most fabulous 'collection' in the front garden - horses, coos, sheep - the lot.
Life size as well..
Makes me hoot every time I go by.
I'm always meaning to take a photo, but I'm scared they see me...
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
If they say " Oh yes, that's our birdsong recording on a constant loop", l despair.

I must try and get a pic of that garden next time I'm up that way. It's not big, and the whole garden is full of them. I assume there must be a reason, but I'm damned if I can think of one!
