Have you got any sour grapes? Brandy creamed sprouts
Maybe we could have a leftovers swap thread like the seed thread.

  • Freeze the cream until you can make some more mince pies  :)

Brandy creamed sprouts , there's a thought ! I could just imagine some celebrity chef (Heston Bloomingheck ?) coming up with that . Trouble with the mince pie idea Dove, l have run out of mincemeat, and to be honest l think OH would have a fit if l produced any more!
  • Then I’d make a Chestnut meringue roulade and incorporate the whipped brandy cream in a filling with some sweetened chestnut purée:-)

    Somebody say brandy cream?! 😋
I’d have that just on ice cream if nothing else available! Roulade sound very good! I’d be tempted to make a simple sponge to have with it - coffee maybe?

Can't help with sour grapes except for using in chutney.   Never use brandy cream but it would surely go with a tarte tatin or caramelised clementines or a sticky toffee style mini pudding with some ginger in it.

We finally found some sprouts today.  Yuk!  OH can cook his own when we have roast lamb on Sunday.

What is brandy cream? Does it do what it says on the tin?

I'd use the brandy cream to make a de luxe egg custard.

For our Christmas day pudding, I made a bread and butter pudding with a 500g pannetone. Slivers of  marzipan and stem ginger tucked between the slices, a handful of sultanas scattered over, then two beaten eggs in about 400ml of milk.  At Easter, I make bread and butter pudding from hot cross buns.

Has anyone any savoury recipes? Lovely thread but so far mostly cakes.

The family, 19 for lunch on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, asked for fish on Boxing Day. I made two Sole Joinvilles in large ring moulds, took me most of the morning but they went down well. Nice and soft for the little ones.

French son-in-law decorated it, he likes raw mushrooms.
