I'd happily indulge Nick Bailey. o:)

  • I try and focus on the gardens and not the personalities of the presenters. Every gardener worth their salt had their own little quirks which we have to get used to.
A friend of mine can't  cope with the lovely  enthusiasm of Carol Klein she feels she's like a gushing school teacher!
Can we have the next Gardeners World somewhere  a bit further  north (excluding Beechgrove) think the furthest north ever was Percy Thrower's "The Magnolias". Definitely  makes a big difference  to what you can grow and when.
We do need to get more young people into horticulture but Toby Buckland's version was a bit OTT. Missing Alys Fowler too she had some original ideas. The only one who came out of that debacle really well was Joe Swift.

IMHO Toby Buckland  was lumbered with the stupid ideas of the producers. I don't think the whole " cool wall / shed" nonsense was HIS doing.

    In My Humble Opinion.

Presenters do make a huge difference.  There are some prgrammes I can't watch or listen to because of the main presenter - eg anything with Jeremy Vine - and, as I said years ago, TB did not have to go along with the producers vision of his version of GW.  He could have kept his integrity and refused.

Indeed so, but "integrity" doesn't pay the bills.  I can't watch Pru's Bake Off.

I know but, since then, his TV career has definitely taken a hit form which he is only just recovering.  A high price to pay for some short term gain.

I rather like Pru Leith as she doesn't stand for any nonsence or male presenter/judge ego massaging either when she was on Great British Menu or from Paul on GBBO.   Her cookery school has also produced some very good recipe books.

I don't doubt her skills, but then again, neither does she.
Her ego seems to the be equal of Mr H.
Such a shame as I love Noel and Sandi but Pru puts me off the whole show.

Nowt wrong with a female having an ego to match a man's but doesn't help if her personality grates.

I've never noticed that she has a "personality"  ;)
I just find her a bit "up herself"
Others are, of course, free to have a contrary opinion.
