Thank you Obelixx. I'll try that.
It is not Abundance which is a great deal darker than my Clematis. Thank you for trying though.

Does it only flower at this time of year?   My spring flowering Alpinas seemed to react to the hot summer by having a very late second flush a couple of weeks ago.

It has never flowered before. This is its first season.

    Entel .
Good Luck it is so annoying when you can't quite remember or lose the label.

Just wondered is it a common one or less available, more specialist nursery.
(My first year Alpina Constance had me searching, the flowers were so light and wrong then the second year it came out the right dark colour).

(Margaret Hunt might be the right colour but too wide and a gappy petal and Margot Koster also but darker.
The do sometimes have four or five petals?

Ha ha Diana of course I like you and all the other nice people who have given me names to Google. I do not think it is an Alpina as they are generally spring flowering but what I will do is wait until next Spring and see if it shows signs of flowering then. This year has been quite unusual, weatherwise, so it could be that this Clematis has got very confused - bit like me really. I'd just like to thank all the contributors for their advice and assistance.

  • It looks like a non climbing Integrifolia Group from here.

Just be careful googling round that website as it can lead to deep clematis envy and then online nurseries and all sorts of self indulgence...........

I found some crackers looking for yours.

Its climbed and twined right the way through the Camellia Richard. Its petioles are coiled around the more slender branches.

  • How tall is the plant ?  Did you purchase and plant it recently ?

The plant is about 2m + high and I only planted it earlier this year
