    Do you think the RHS know where they come from?
    'Protect from cold, drying winds' - they grow at thousands of feet above sea level in their native habitat!  :D
    I'd think it's the lack of moisture that's the issue, unless - as Dove says - there's browning high up. They need a lot of moisture to thrive, so it may well be shedding more than normal because of the recent, record breaking dry spell.
    Conifers are the same, and the big one I have has shed a lot more than it normally would. It's back to normal now after all the rain in the last month or so. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    When I was about 6 or 7 I could see a MPT from my bed and late at night when it was outlined in the moon light it looked like a sailing ship in full sail. Used to scare me rigid !!
    Not relevant to the discussion but hey ho !!

    Everyone is just trying to be Happy.....So lets help Them.
