Absolutely right Karen. Skips are very expensive - even a small one.
Sabeeha - you're right too . It can let people [experienced or not] see what they could achieve, or how they could alter a layout fairly easily.
Sometimes, we get stuck in a rut and can't see how we can change something, because it's 'always been like that', especially patios or paths.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • I caught the end of yesterdays program Indian sandstone paving and raised beds (sleepers) they said £900 the lot,
I looked again today counted the patio slabs got an idea of size cant find the slabs for less than £1200 anywhere roughly worked out the sleepers and cant fine them for less than £500 this is without any ground works or fixing materials. Shame they don't live in the real world.

What really annoys me about these garden make-overs is that none of them take into account where you  hang your washing or even put the wheelie bins (all 5 of them). And none of the clients have ever asked for a greenhouse! ALl they seem to want is their garden 'decorated'.

@Hampshire_Hog perhaps they get the materials at cost price, do they advertise where they purchased them from?
  • Mary they do get it at better than cost I'm sure of that but they should give true idea of retail cost not what they paid for it.

Just wondered if anyone is watching the current series? I have been struck by how much l like Arit Anderson's designs. I am some way behind on this (10 episodes to be precise),  but l am enjoying it. I wish they would do revisits though, that would be interesting.

I only caught the tale end of one with her in it and not her design so I've set it to record.   Just seen an old one with Charlie doing arty bits for the brothers and enjoyed it but I do find the brothers' designs tend to get a bit samey.  Plenty of tips tho for design and planting and how to build stuff.

Have been watching the series on this week and for once I really did like the brothers design over Charlies' and thought it made a much better use of space. I think it was the one they dug the dog pit! (but not for that reason!).

I really like her designs too!

Charlie and the Rich brothers have such opposite styles.

But Arit seems to design gardens with good formal structure (to rival the Rich brothers) but also 'flowing' at the same time.

You may well have a point @Tljenkinslandscaping (I didn't see the episode) ... but dredging up an old thread to advertise your company is not allowed on this forum.
