Thanks @Mary370. I've worn them a bit now and they're quite comfy. I do hope that @wild edges prediction of cold feet from the steel can be mitigated by extra socks...

Cheers - I've made a note! I'm hoping we'll be moving about enough to keep warm. I need to sort out my clothes as the weather cools - what I usually wear in the garden at home is really not suitable for travelling on the tube (more holes than cloth)!

@JennyJ have you tried Asos? My niece has size two/three triangular feet with the world's highest instep (They are little stumps on the ends of her legs!!!!) and she found that they do small sizes in 'lady' styles and wide fittings.
JennyJ - my oldest daughter has size 2-ish feet, but she gets lots of shoes/boots online. She also has quite awkward feet - very broad at the toe, and narrow at the heel. She seems to get enough choice though, so it's worth a try. She likes quite 'punky' looking stuff though, so no idea if more conventional 'ladies' footwear' is available. Try the walking/climbing shops for good socks too LG.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Crikey @plant pauper. The way you describe your nieces feet reminds me of those 100 year old Chinese women with bound feet 😨. C'mon, we all know she's a lovely girl really 😁.
