    Totally agree with @Paul B3. I regularly put markers (short bamboos sticks with tip painted green) on all of my deciduous Herbaceous Perennial plants before they disappear at the end of the season. See pic of my 3 Geranium Rozanne taken at the end of november last year, showing the 3 markers planted next to the centre of the specimens.

    As perennials [especially ones like dicentras that get quite large ] are also perfect for underplanting with bulbs for earlier in the year, a marker of some kind helps prevent forks or spades being put through the bulbs too.
    Not that I've ever done that of course.... ;)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
